Analytics privacy
This page explains, in plain terms, what this website measures and what it does not. It is a factual description of how the site works, not a legal document.
Basic page counts
Basic measurement adds page views to a daily total for each public page. That is all this counter stores: the UTC date, the public page path, and a count. These counts are collected whatever you choose in the analytics banner.
- No cookies, local storage or visitor IDs are used for these counts.
- No fingerprinting, and no IP addresses are stored by this counter.
- No referrer and no query strings are recorded, only the page path.
- The counts cannot identify people or reconstruct anyone’s journey through the site.
- Your browser’s user-agent is checked at the moment of the request to exclude known bots, and is then discarded rather than stored.
Optional analytics, only with your consent
If you choose to allow analytics in the banner, the site also records anonymous sessions, foreground time on a page, and whether an enquiry form was started, submitted or abandoned. It never records the answers you type into an enquiry form. If you decline, none of this is recorded. You can change your choice at any time using “Analytics preferences” on the page.
Google Analytics
With the same optional analytics permission, we also use Google Analytics to understand website use. Google’s tag is not loaded until you allow analytics. It uses cookies and processes usage and device information; Google may process this information outside your country. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled by this integration. We send public page paths without query strings and do not send enquiry answers or track the admin workspace. These reports are viewed separately in Google Analytics, not in this website’s admin dashboard. If you withdraw permission, this integration disables further collection and removes its analytics cookies from this browser; this does not delete data already collected by Google. See how Google uses information from partner sites.
Limitations
- Counts are page views, not unique people. One person opening three pages is three views.
- Browser settings, script or content blockers and bot filtering can mean some views are not counted.
- Known bots are excluded, but that does not guarantee every automated visit is excluded.
- Counting began when this feature was published. Nothing is counted retroactively.
